In the Fall of 1875, at the height of the Plains Wars, the Dakota gold rush penetrated the Black Hills. The U.S. Army did not keep miners off Lakota hunting grounds; yet, when ordered to take action against bands of Lakota hunting on the range, according to their treaty rights, the Army moved vigorously. Among the men ordered to deal with the ‘Indian problem’ was a man, Richard York, hell bent on a desire to eradicate the hated heathens from his land and cleanse the earth of their wickedness. Now he has seen the path to achieve his goals. After murdering Running With Horses, a great Lakota warrior, he took the life of Chief Black Bear. Now he turns his gaze to Voice In The Wind, the woman who holds the keys to his deepest desire…
